You know this Boogie is for real....
So I tried Zumba at 24 Hour Fitness this week...and let me tell you - I'm not there yet. You see, the class was supposed to start at 5:30. At 5:34, there were 10 women lined up outside the door and no instructor. I jumped on the bike machine while I waited - I was not about to waste valuable workout time. Finally, at about 5:45, another instructor who had been working out offered to teach the class. She didn't have the right music, but made it work. We danced around to semi-salsa, semi-hip hop music for about 40 minutes. Some moves were too faced paced and the instructor wasn't too keen on telling us what was coming next. So when in doubt, I just danced in a circle and shook my ba-donk-ka-donk [that means butt, dad :)]. THEN...at about 6:15, the real instructor shows up - seems she taught the class the day before at 6:30 and assumed it was at the same time that day. So she popped in her Zumba music, and since we were warmed up, she jumped right into it. Yeah, I lasted about 5 minutes before I started seeing balck and white lights. I gave it a good try but thought passing out in front of a bunch of strangers with no idenitfication on me was not a good idea. I grabbed my water bottles and kept my head high as I walked out the back door.
Feeling that I was on the verge of passing out, I dug through my gym bag for a granola bar, but it turns out I didn't have any. I grabbed my keys and bags and headed for my car. Turns out they were having Member Appreciation Day and there were about 5 tables set up with different goodies - one was granola bars. Yeah, I was the fat girl at the gym who grabbed the biggest healthy brownie bar, smiled, then left the gym. I had hopped it was fruit based, but alas it contained chocolate chips and coconut.
So I'm sticking to yoga and stretch classes for now. Allison and I attended a class on Saturday. While we both got a good workout and didn't fall on our faces, we were in awe over the dancer who was in front of us. I'm convinced that she is quadruple jointed, as she could have easily crossed her legs - behind her. We all have out tallents....
I'm looking forward to another great week of workouts!
xoxo
