Average, Everyday, Sane, Psycho, Supergoddess...
I know it's been a while since I've blogged, but let me tell you...that Half Marathon took a LOT out of me. The short story is that I came, I saw, I kicked butt! I have pictures below of my day. Is it weird to say that I had a lot of fun? Sure, there was some drama, but it's me, right?
Rock N Roll Half Marathon - January 2009

Since the Half Marathon, a lot of my friends have expressed interest in participating in races with me. For the past few years, ASU has hosted Pat's Run, a charity event to raise money in honor of former Sun Devil and fallen soldier, Pat Tillman. So I got some friends together and Lucky Devils was formed. This was my best event yet. Thanks to my friend, Traci, not only did we beat my goal time (I finished in 1:10:11 and my goal time was 1:12:00), but she kept me going to make my best mile time out of all my races (17:33)!
Pat's Run - April 2009

With all this going on, Traci and I decided we wanted to get serious about training for the next Rock n Roll Half Marathon in January 2010. We've enlisted the help of my friend Nate to be our coach. Our training group consists of a bunch of our friends who are ok with meeting at 6am, every other Saturday, at the Tempe Town Lake to start moving! Not everyone has the half marathon as a goal, and that's fine by us. We invite anyone and everyone to join us!
Here is our race calendar - we are open to more, just let me know!
October 11, 2009 - Race for the Cure, 5k (oh, and I'm signing up to be a Community Outreach Ambassador for this organization. Let me know if you are interested. Training is 8/15)
November 8, 2009 - Phoenix 10k
January 17, 2010 - Rock n Roll Half Marathon
April 2010 - Pat's Run

ASU Updates...
As many of you know, I was asked to present the outstanding graduate award at the School of Letters & Sciences Convocation. I spoke in front of about 6500 people and only had a few blunders. The night before we hosted our best attended alumni event for the BIS graduates. The highlight of the night was the t-shirts purchased by the school that read "Because I'm Smart". I've also been asked to serve on the ASU Alumni Associations Young Alumni Council. We are assisting ASUAA with programming for alumni 35 years and younger. I've had a big role in getting some of the initial events planned, which is right up my alley! It's a great group of individuals and I'm looking forward to working with them.
Thanks again to everyone for their support! This has been a great adventure and I look forward to what's next!
